Well I'd say thats a pretty awesome start! I was hoping they'd give us a few more names than that.
Our confirmed then:
R.E.M.,
Modest Mouse
The Cure
Death Cab for Cutie
The Flaming Lips
Michael Franti and Spearhead
MIA
Built to Spill
The Presidents of the United States of America
Tegan and Sara
Flight of the Conchords
The Blakes
The Hives
The Cops
Cold War Kids
The Cave Singers
The Breeders
Joshua Morrison
Heavenly States
Fleet Foxes
The Cops
Siberian
Ozomatli
65 Days of Static
David Bazan (aka Pedro the Lion)
Hahahahah Presidents?????????? Weak but the list isn't too bad so far
nu-uh! the presidents will be awesome!
millions of peaches will be the highlight of the fest :)
I am going to see the presidents in a couple weeks, double dose of peaches for me! I have never seen Flaming Lips so I am syked after hearing how amazing they were at the last Sasquatch and Franti always gets the crowd going, I thought it was way more fun having him on a small stage last year.
I am still hoping to see the National and Devon Williams added
Someone at the coachella boards called the end and got this list
Here is the rest of the lineup....
New Pornographers, The National, Beirut, Dedue Fever, Fleet Foxes, The Breeders, Okkervil River, The Little Ones, The Grand Archives, David Bazan, Joshua Morrison, Throw the Statue, Kinski, The Cave Singers, Battles, Jamie Liddell, Ghostland Observatory, Mars Volta (pending), Matt Costa, Awesome, J. Tillman, The Heavenly States, 65 Days of Static, White Heaven?, Mates of State, Blue Scholars, Say Hi, Dyme Def, Siberian, The Shaky Hands
Mars Volta will be great if no one throws piss at them.
Sad to see no Fall of Troy or Schoolyard Heroes.
So is it Flaming Lips and Death Cab for day three then?
where are the raconteurs, gogol bordello or gnarls barkley....sad
Gorgol Bordello are doing a show soon, maybe their tour is taking them too far from the Northwest?
Here's how the lineup is gonna break down, according to the DJ I spoke to (the one who broke the lineup)
Modest Mouse and REM are Staurday
Death Cab and the Cure Sunday (this will be "The End's day", which means a lot of the bands they play will likely play then. POTUSA, Hives, Cold War Kids seem to be likely on that day. Tegan and Sara as well).
Mars Volta (not confirmed) and Flaming Lips Monday.
No shocker that Flaming Lips are closing the show after 2006.
She said more bands are potential, but she wasn't sure who they'd be yet.
ladytron - seattle may 24 @ showbox? wtf
I'd be suprised if built to spill didn't open for whoever headlines on monday. They're definitely popular enough to do it (I saw them open for the pixies a couple years ago at bumbershoot and then the pixies headlined sasquatch...) and monday is the only day without a band before the headliner.
overall this is a pretty good line up. For a while I was hoping for some big get like pearl jam but then I realized that I'd rather have bands like the flaming lips then just about any bigger name...
B2S will probably main stage before Mars Volta, they're gonna open if they get confirmed.
Day by day lineup is in progress on the forums
Only 55 bands?
That's surprising, considering that last year's festival had 40 acts and was only two days.
I'm surprised that they are using the same headliners so soon... Flaming Lips & Death Cab were both there in 2006 (and the Lips played 2004 I think) and Franti played last year (although he got bumped from the main stage due to the wind and had to go on the same time as the Beasties... so maybe that's why he was invited back). Modest Mouse played in 2005 and were at the Gorge last August for Download Fest.
I personally think the Lips are the ultimate festival closer, but maybe not so soon. Guaranteed it will be a good (great) time, but there's something a bit lacking in seeing the same bands at the same festival so soon.
this list is stale. disappointing. seen it before.
Yeah, I totally hate seeing fantasic live bands every 2 years.
Why do awesome bands have to play so often? Can't they wait, like, 5 years between shows? I'd rather see some sucky bands and put DCFC and Flaming Lips on the back burner for 2010.
Sasquatch! seems to be remixing itself this year:
2007-Michael Franti, MIA (cancelled), Ozomatli, The Blakes
2006-DCFC, Flaming Lips, Blue Scholars, Matt Costa, Jamie Lidell, Heavenly States,
2005-Blue Scholars
2004-Built to Spill, New Pornographers
2003-Flaming Lips, DCFC
2002-Thank God NO Ben Harper or JJ!!!
I'd argue that Death Cab is extremely bad live.
I wish they'd branch out from almost purely rock. M83 is playing Neumos on May 25. They should've got him
I'm just glad there's no Jack Johnson, haha.
Great LIVE bands?????? I only see a couple. DCFC is terrible live. I was worried from the beginning that they might get better studio artists than live acts :(. However, Beirut and the Lips will be amazing. I'm still puzzled by the comedy tent/stage. They only have the Conchords listed (Presidents could count also) for comedy, wierd.
But I also do LOVE the combo of the National, then MM, then REM...mmmmm that is a tasty burger.
Yes. M83 would have been perfect. What were they thinking? They sure dropped the ball on that one.
yo fools, i made a Sasquatch playlist!

shitty lineup, first year in a long time i'm not going. i could have though tof 20 other headliners that would have fit the bill other the the fucking flamer's lips and death cab for homo. lame. sasquatch, i'm so ashamed of you. have fun emo kids.
i can see it now, skinny pants and eyeliner EVERYWHERE.
Shitty lineup? What the fuck?
This lineup is totally solid. Lots of great indie bands. The headliners may not be everyone's cup of tea (I could care less for bands like the Cure and DCFC) but there are some spectacular newer acts littered throughout.
I'm quite happy to see the Flaming Lips on there since I missed the festival two summers ago. And thank god for Michael Franti.
I glad that the last guy who posted isn't going. He sounds like a downer.
pretty good lineup, some repeats from prevous year. and a couple more mid level band could be awesome.
Anyways thanks Dustin for all your hard work . finally we have a forum for sasquatch.
Wow, gay jokes. Way to show your maturity dude.
BTW, DCFC hasn't headlined yet, and isn't this year, and Flaming Lips weren't supposed to in 06, they were just mainstagers.
Mike Patton? meh (his name shows up on the main festival)
wow, i'm really stoked for this
Very solid. Pornos, Beirut, Destroyer, Franti, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, the National, Modest Mouse, MIA!!
I think its a very good lineup so far. Kanye, British Sea Power, Kings of leon and such would have been good, but im sure theres conflict or something.
And, whatever you think of the lineup... you cant deny it, its gonna be one awesome 3 night party!
Thank god there is no Jack Johnson. Every other festival this year (Coachella, Bonnaroo ete) looks relatively poor. That said this year Sasquatch may very well feel like a re-run of one of your favourite TV shows or films. The Flaming Lips again? Modest Mouse and DCFC - good studio bands but not that great live. Spearhead again? MIA again? I could go on. REM and the Cure - 15 + years past their prime. PUSA - with all due respect - WTF? Plus if you live in Seattle and like local music you have seen most of the NW acts big and small at least once or many times. There just isn't enough diversity here. Where are the national rap or dance acts? I guess not every year can be that interesting. That said, I hope but doubt that Spearhead, REM, Beirut, MIA and Flight of the Conchords are the same day. And it looks like the Flaming Lips have a new live show (different from the one that's been doing the rounds for several years now). My guess is we get REM and Modest Mouse on Saturday. The Cure and DCFC on Sunday and The Flaming Lips and Spearhead on Monday. That would be cool cos I could go hiking or sightseeing on Sunday.
is there a list anywhere of which days the bands are playing?
Anonymous the last: I can confirm all but Spearhead as being exactly as you described. and MIA missed out last year, so there's that too.
Last year there were 25ish bands a day, so one might expect another 15 to 20 bands to play. Plus there's the comedy tent; no telling how that'll change things.
Michael Franti likely was invited back because of the windstorm fiasco last year. A) he was moved from the main stage to the Wookie. B)it took for friggin' ever for the roadies to set up the Wookie properly (1.5+ hours) C)Anyone who toughed out the wait ended up missing Spoon, Interpol AND The Beastie Boys.
Death Cab's back because they're local and have a new album to promote.
The Flaming Lips are back because of their new movie or something.
The only group I don't really know the reason for a return performance is Ozomatli. Especially after just a year.
ok, why the f**k does everyone think dcfc sucks live. maybe if you only count the big hit songs like soul meets body or ill follow you into the dark, but when play their old stuff, they rock it. also now they have new songs to promote, i'm sure they'll be really good.
Yea, I'm quite happy with the lineup as it is... but I've definitely got my finger's crossed that they add a few more good acts. Although having adding 15-20 bands seems like a bit much, doesn't it?
Why do DCFC suck? I have seen them in a festival before and they just aren't best suited for that environment. Oh, and "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" may be the worst song ever. And that's from someone who likes everything up to the last album. It sounds like something that a 15 year old with their first crush would write and if anyone "mainstream" had recorded something so trite people would have openly vomited in the street.
Death Cab are great live - but maybe not at a festival setting. And as for repeats - just remember that some bands like the Blue Scholars didn't play on the main stage until 2006. And come on, Flight of the Conchords?? Who's not excited for them?!! I say great lineup!!!
"I Will Follow You into the Dark" is no less trite than mainstream Coldplay's "Fix You". You're entitled to your opinion, but be reasonable.
Hey you make a great point about that stinker from DCFC - it's only competition for most embarrasingly trite, cliched, and childish song ever is the nadir of Coldplay's catalogue. Don't get me wrong I think Ben Gibbard is a terrific songwriter and I am looking forward to the new album. Maybe DCFC could cover "Business Time" and the Flight of the Conchords could cover "I Will Follow You..." at Sasquatch. Ah..wishful thinking.
Not even a day has passed and The Presidents have already been REMOVED!!!!!!!! Who knows, maybe they are trying to set up the Comedy Tent :)!
DCFC when they stray from playing a studio version of their songs live, can be good. Ten minute We Looked Like Giants comes to mind the most.
I think the Presidents weren't supposed to be announced yet. I'll try to find out what's up via the local stations.
Any idea what a "Flaming Lips UFO Show" is?
I saw them in September and it was a slightly different show then they've been doing the past five years or so, but nothing majorly different. Just a bit more subdued and some different (older) songs.
Does it just mean their UFO rig/contraption will be there? 'Cause I'm pretty sure they had that at Sasquatch '06. I could be wrong though.
They have no new material so I'm a bit curious what it means. Why bill it as a "UFO Show" and not just
"The Flaming Lips"?
