What an awesome start, but there are sure to be some additions. Did anyone else notice on the little T.V. on the right that said Fleet Foxes (which we already know are going to be there), The Shins and Death Cab for Cutie? Possible additions? We will have to see in the coming weeks...

Sweet! Can't wait for Animal Collective and of Montreal.

Looks awesome!! Here's hoping The Shins get added!

There is no way Jane's Addiction is headlining above NIN is there? They better have the same amount of set time.

Am I the only one who is dissapointed here? I'm not claiming to know the first thing about what goes into producing a music festival. However, for the sake of argument let's weigh out the pros and cons of this years line up.

PROS: There are a lot of solid acts in the middle area. M. Ward, Doves, Silversun Pickups, School of Seven Bells, M83, Sun Kil Moon, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, PB&J, Calexico, Explosions In the Sky, The Do Do's are all amazing acts that I look forward to seeing.

CONS: Where's the big name Hip Hop act (Kanye, Public Enemy, Jay-Z) or Electronic act (Chemical Brthers, MSTRKFT, DJ Shadow)???
KoL as a headline act???!!! Sorry, but they're not worthy..... Wow! Good luck keeping people around for that set on a school night! Jane's Addiction could be epic but they better be playing their songs better than Perry was doing them with Satellite Party! Ben Harper as the headliner on the last night? Let's not forget all the repeat acts here either. NIN = 2006, Ben Harper = 2006, The Decemberists = 2006, TV on the Radio = 2006, Fleet Foxes = 2008 (twice!), Calexico = 2003, Viva Voce = 2007.

My predicition is that ticket sales for this years festival will be very poor.

"Wow! Good luck keeping people around for that set on a school night!" - Was meant to be in regards to Ben Harper not KoL...

The Headliners are sub-par, but the mid tier looks fantastic. Hopefully they announce more headliners - Kings of Leon and Ben Harper are not up to par (compared to Bjork and Flaming Lips, who ruled). That 'official' link is now dead, so maybe they're still adding acts.

um...it's actually spelled Santogold not Santigold. That's embarrassing...but other than that this looks like an awesome lineup!!

Anonymous said...

No it's actually Santogold, they changed their name. Also, the lineup looks sick but I'm suprised that KOL pulled the headline spot away from the decemberists. Not only are the decemberists a great live but but their from the Northwest which I thought would give them the upper hand.
Can't wait for Animal Collective

I also saw on http://www.msbands.com that Smoosh may be playing?

I hope The Shins get added too

am i the only one that can only see last years lineup on the official site?

Anonymous said...

i meant to say Santigold. Now that's embarrassing .

"CONS: Where's the big name Hip Hop act (Kanye, Public Enemy, Jay-Z) or Electronic act (Chemical Brthers, MSTRKFT, DJ Shadow)???"

The Knux/Chromeo/Girl Talk

Maybe I am part of the minority, but I think the lineup is excellent. You can't have everything you want in the same year! Not to mention that just BEING there is the best part of it all.

I just want to say that i live less than an hour from the gorge and am dissapointed again this year with the lineup. I will be attending it just cause i live that close. It seems like there is less and less thought put into this every year and what we get are 2nd tier bands as headliners, Ben Harper? Kings Of Leon? NIN? really weak. As for Janes Addiction, They were good in 1990 just like all the crap that was there last year, the cure, REM. At least KOL has put out some meaningful music in the last couple years. not my taste but there are plenty of people that like them. I guess what im saying is that being a band on this ticket is like winning a gold medal in the special olympics.

The link provided here is now pointing to a blank page. Similarly, www.sasquatchfestival.com has been updated with the new banner and a "coming soon." So I wonder if that original page was a bit premature?

I like KOL, but agree they are not really headliner material. I think Jane's / NIN is pretty awesome though. And don't get me started on another Ben Harper set. Boring, and been done at Sasquatch. Solid mid-card... I would go for Saturday and Sunday as it stands now. But I'm kind of thinking when the new website is launched we will see some other big names.

p.s. "Santogold" changed her name to "Santigold / Santi White" due to a trademark / copyright issue.

The headliners are def a little, eh. But the holy shit this lineup kicks ass!!!!
of montreal
animal collective m83
yeah yeah yeahs!
explosions
passion pit
black moth super rainbow
girl talk

I know i will definetly be dancing my booty off!
Fuck yeah!

The only band that has me super excited is Explosions in the Sky. Mainly because they haven't played a show in a long time, so I will go for them.

You think no Kanye is a CON? Trust me, Kanye sucks at festivals. Look up his Bonnaroo appearance last year. He's a complete tool and crybaby. His crew actually unplugged Pearl Jam then took all night to set up his stage. By the time he started all his fans were too drunk or tired of waiting. The sun was coming up by the time his "glow in the dark" set finally got underway for about 2000 people. What a tool.

Anonymous said...

I'm ridiculously stoked, i think the line-up is fantastic!!!

seriously, like 3/4s of my favorite bands are playing!

Anonymous said...

This will be my first time going, so I was wondering if they only sell a certain amount of those $154 3 day discounted pass on the weekend of Feb 28? Do we need to buy as soon as they go on sale on Saturday, or will they sell from the general pool at that price until Sunday @ Midnight?

Bryce Murphy said...

The headliners are definitely disappointing. Three of my favorite bands headlined last year, and I doubt I'll stick around for any of them this year. Still, TV on the Radio, Explosions in the Sky, Nine Inch Nails, The Decemberists, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes, Calexico, Sun Kil Moon, Bon Iver, The Gaslight Anthem, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, and Horse Feathers will get me to the Gorge.

Headliners Schmeadliners. Looking at my favorite performances from last year's festival, none of them were from the headliners. When you look at festivals, remember: you realistically can only see 1/3 of the acts anyway, so if you really like half of the lineup, it's going to be worth it to go. I'm lukewarm on KOL, Ben Harper, NIN, Jane's Addition, YYY. I don't really like any of them, but I still think the festival is first rate. I love R.E.M. and like the Cure, but in no way did they steal the show last year.

Unknown said...

okay, i definitely agree with walterrocks on this one... kings of leon, jane's addiction, and ben harper as headlining bands? what the hell is that?!?! where's arcade fire, white stripes, sonic youth, wilco... did sasquatch give up on this year? the majority of these bands are pretty good... don't get me wrong, but the headlining bands should be the real selling point and that just didn't happen this year. this festival shouldn't settle for such mediocrity given the past bands.

Anonymous said...

I'm totally okay with janes/nin and i like KOL and yeah yeah yeahs, but neither of those two seem like headliner material. Ben Harper is amazingly dull and totally not in demand. I am really excited about most of this lineup, but it sounds like a lot of people could totally do without ben harper

Tiffany in Translation said...

Basically this line up looks like Capitol Hill Block Party 2008 on a bigger stage.

Anonymous said...

Like it or not... KOL are selling out Arenas all over the world (MSG, O2). So they are a headliner act.

Anonymous said...

I really hope Death Cab and the Shins get added. Preferably on Saturday...hint hint hint hint. That would be the ultimate day; DCFC, The Shins, KoL, YYY....Please?

I am not sure if this was meant for me, but if it was my source is Travis Hay (aka Ear Candy) who sent me the link to the temporary site, which he received through a press release e-mail, not through Coachella as you suggest.

death cab is touring with ra ra riot and will be in WA that weekend, so that seems fairly plausable

Unknown said...

Maybe I'm the only one but I'm really digging Ben Harper's new stuff. Very Zeppelinesque.

Anonymous said...

im kinda afraid to go to Sasquatch this year... with all the winy people hanging out there, complaining about the acts, and bitching about bands they feel don't deserve the right to be there. Kinda freaks me out, i hope i watch the right bands perform so i don't upset the posters here. Ever think you'll walk out of the gorge a fan of a band you never knew you liked? TOOLS

Snave said...

Where do we find out who is playing at what times on what stages, or has that not been released yet?

Snave said...

I'm not going for the headliners, I tend to be more interested in newer bands. Last year I enjoyed REM, Flaming Lips and The Cure, but I liked Fleet Foxes, Beirut, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The National and The Kooks a whole lot more.

Newer isn't necessarily better, but for this old fart it certainly can be that way sometimes.

NIN, JA, and Ben Harper will be fun but I'm going this year to see others I enjoy lots such as Explosions, Sun Kil Moon, M83, Doves, Shearwater, Calexico, of Montreal, The Walkmen, Animal Collective, Silversun Pickups, Santagold, Fleet Foxes, Gogol Bordello, Grizzly Bear, and I suppose Kings of Leon because I don't know their music very much.

I thought Grizzly Bear was amazingly good in 2007, along with the Black Angels, Ghostland Observatory and The Helio Sequence. Bring on the new blood!

I missed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when they came last time. I am not going to miss them this time. See you freaks there on Saturday.

Chromeo oooohhhhhhh ooooohhhhhh

i'm pleased enough with the lineup to shell out for tickets and the trip! i guess that's a vote of confidence.

random note: love m.ward, what're the odds there will be some she & him love?

will possibly improve with addition of dcfc!

Unknown said...

Zooey and her man Ben would be great additions (mostly for She&Him though... I've seen Death Cab twice since the new album came out)

Anonymous said...

What happened to Peter Bjorn and John? They aren't on the lineup anymore. That is a major loss.

Anonymous said...

Neko Case better play or else i'm going to be really upset:(
My Morning Jacket would be a definite plus too...

Anonymous said...

Anyone know the presale password??

Anonymous said...

The presale password doesn't get you any special pricing, so might as well wait until 2/28 to buy your tickets. With this lineup, it ain't selling out right away!

But if you *really* wanna know, it's "stg".

Anonymous said...

Im stoked!!!.Put on the headphones and get all off keyboard all you negative music lovers/critics.
This is and always is a kick ass music festival in one of the most beautiful gorges in the world. See you all at Devotchka and K.O.L.!!

Anonymous said...

I can't believe some of you tards whining about the lineup. I know Janes hasn't been shoved down your throats for the last few years, but with Eric back I expect to have my mind blown. You suckers can watch the trendy bands and cut out early, I'll see an amazing show and I can get out of the parking lot faster with you gone.

Anonymous said...

i cant seem to find anything on how long a typical day goes for? Something like 1 PM to 1AM???????

Anonymous said...

Just heard about the fest, and there are enough great bands to get me really excited.

Still, I wish I could buy a three day pass, even if its not at a "discounted" rate anymore; I learned too late about the previous March 1st deadline. Making people now pay a TicketMaster upcharge for each single day ticket seems impractical. Is there any reason why both options (regular price three day and single day tix)aren't offered regularly?

caitpatricia said...

This lineup rocks. Is there any way to pay for all three days worth of tickets? Ticketmaster charges $10 each time! Thats lame... Sorry, I'm new at this. Thanks!

Joshua Guerci said...

there are some serious problems with the lineup this year... it would be nice if the sasquatch organizers thought through a little more with who would like to see what bands and not schedule them at the same time. such as, m83 and tv on the radio. it would be best if the innovative bands (ie, animal collective, grizzly bear) were put on one day and the throwback bands (ie, kings of leon, silversun pickups) were put on another day.

also, who cares about the decemberists anymore? is it just me or is colin meloy listening to way too much rush and yes! lately?

Sildenafil said...

Excellent line up, I'm amazed because the list you posted in here it's exactly what I like to listen, I had not could made a best line up as you did.
