Rumors!!!

You asked for it and here it is. A place where rumors can start! We know that Kings of Leon are heavily rumored and that Sun Kil Moon is confirmed, but what are some other rumors out there? Here are several that I would agree with:

Coldplay - Have not played Washington since Viva La Vida came out.

Franz Ferdinand - New album and to me seem like a great fit for Sasquatch! maybe right before a headliner?

Band of Horses - New album this year and have their roots here in the Northwest.

Youth Group - I love this band from Australia. They put out a new album there in June and I believe it comes out in the U.S. in February. They are playing South by Southwest and would be a great Wookie stage band.

Weezer/Oasis Tour - Last year there was the R.E.M./Modest Mouse/National tour that came through Sasquatch! could Weezer and Oasis be this years version?

So what other rumors are out there? I know there are several on the Sasquatch! Message Board so check those out and add to them as well.

Here are my likely candidates... I've broken it into artists that have an album out in early 2009, then artists with later 2009 releases, or rumored to be releasing something in '09... and finally bands that released kick ass stuff last year and seem possible... and then the never gonna happen list at the end.

There are a few that I know will not happen (Coldplay, Green Day, Blur, Morrissey), but I put them up for posterity sake. Not much in the way of headliners here... Beck seems like a good candidate... maybe NIN to close out the festival with a "Lights in the Sky" show? I doubt they will still be touring that in May, though. Who knows... let the speculation begin.

I have bolded the ones I think are very likely.

Early 2009 Albums:

Franz Ferdinand
• Neko Case
The Decembrists

Late '09 Albums / TBA

• Sonic Youth
Wilco
• Jay-Z
Band of Horses
• Blur
• Green Day
• Morrissey
• AC Newman
• Metric

Albums Last Year:

Kings of Leon
• The Killers
• The Raconteurs
• Coldplay
Beck
• Nine Inch Nails
MGMT
• TV on the Radio
Deerhunter
• Black Kids
• Wolf Parade
The Hold Steady
Fleet Foxes
• Sam Roberts
• Tokyo Police Club
Vampire Weekend
• CSS
Ben Folds
• Weezer

Rumored to be playing every year but never will:

• Radiohead
• U2
• Pearl Jam
• Neil Young

I would love it if Death Cab, the Kooks, The Long Winters, the Cold War Kids, The Presidents and What Made Milwaukee famous came again.

According to Portland radio station KINK.FM, Coldplay is playing Vancouver, WA on July 10, so that probably lessens the chances that they would be at Sasquatch.

Yeah, to follow up to the above comment, they're hitting the Gorge on the 11th. So not impossible but highly unlikely

Animal Collective is booked pretty tight in May...I don't think it's possible for them to play.

Animal Collective being on Coachella is the only logical reason for them not to have a Seattle date lined up.

I would loove for Local Natives to come back. I'd have to say they were my top pick of 2010.

I would like to see star slinger in the dance tent, and Diplo or Major Lazer as a night time headliner for the dance stuff. I think Gotye would fit the sasquatch profile too.

Red hot chili peppers are also a possibility. They have announced that they would play festivals in 2012 and there are only a few left to be announced: sasquatch and outside lands being the main ones.
