Name the Dance Tent Contest!

Here's the info!

November 18th, 2009
Name That Tent!
Once a year, mythical beasts appear in the wilds of The Gorge as the stage names at the Sasquatch! Festival: Sasquatch, Wookie, Yeti and…Comedy/Dance Tent? Hold on a second. We can do better than that! Let’s bring the Comedy/Dance Tent into the fold and give it a name fitting for Sasquatch! Festival 2010.

Email us at sasquatchfest@gmail.com with your suggestion for the new Comedy/Dance Tent name, and we’ll choose one winner to receive:

- a pair of 3 day festival passes for the ‘10 festival
- a weekend camping pass for 1 vehicle
- a glow-in-the-dark Pixies poster signed by all the members

Oh yeah, and on top of all that, you’ll have named a stage at your favorite festival. Not many people get to say that…so give it a shot!

My Sasquatch! 2009 Predictions!!!

Using what we know for sure, solid rumors, distant rumors, gut feelings and a little bit of want here are my 50 or so predictions for Sasquatch! 2009:

Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, Pavement, Jane’s Addiction, Oasis, Kings of Leon, Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, The Shins, Decemberists, Grizzly Bear, The Long Winters, Patrick Wolf, Stars, Animal Collective, The Walkmen, Neko Case, Public Enemy, King of Khan, The Avett Brothers, Peter Bjorn and John, Monotonix, Sun Kil Moon, Passion Pit, Tobacco, Youth Group, Silversun Pickups, TV on the Radio, MGMT, Santogold, Vampire Weekend, Girl Talk, Nada Surf, Wolf Parade, Jenny Lewis, The Black Lips, Dan Deacon, Metric, The Wrens, Seaweed, Clumsy Lovers, Tenacious D, MSTRKRFT, The Thermals, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, John Vanderslice, The Duchess and the Duke, Eliot Lipp, U.S.E., Todd Barry, Zack Galifinakis, Patton Oswald.

What do you think? Obivously there will probably be closer to 80 or 90 bands, but that is exhausting. Last year I got 27 of the 71 bands right. How many do you think you can guess right?

A Second Comedian Confirmed!

Zach Galifianakis is confirmed via a Sasquatch! Blog reader. My predictions coming soon...

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

New rumors, confirmations....

Todd Barry is now confirmed for the comedy/dance tent via his myspace page.

And the Walkmen are rumored, as they are touring with Kings of Leon.

However, rumors of Public Enemy, King of Khan, Neko Case, The Black Lips and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs are unfounded at this point, unless someone has some links...

It is on!!!

I am about to rewrite a press release for posting on Ear Candy and I thought I would send along the press release for your blog.

Cheers,
-Travis

The Decemberists Heavily Rumored, Other Confirmations!!!

Thanks to loyal Sasquatch! Blog readers it is evident that The Decemberists are heavily rumored for Sasquatch! '09 Via Colin Meloy's (Decemberists' frontman) Twitter Q & A and a date in Eugene, OR at the McDonald's Theatre. Below is the Twitter exchange:

The Twitter question:

@colinmeloy Best coffee shop in Portland? Any chance you'll be at Sasquatch? Why is my computer running so slow? grrr
10:02 AM Feb 7th from web in reply to colinmeloy

The Twitter answer:

@shazkitten Ace stumptown. yes. need more RAM?
10:09 AM Feb 7th from web in reply to shazkitten

Also, Kings of Leon is now confirmed based on several accounts of an interview done by DJ Harms from 107.7 The End.

Another Sasquatch! Blog reader helped confirm Passion Pit!

Rumors Abound on the Message Board and Abroad...(2009)

Now there are many rumors out there, here are a few that I believe to be solid:

Tobacco (from Black Moth Super Rainbow fame): A Facebooker pointed this out on the Sasquatch! Facebook page. After a little digging found the info on Tobacco's Myspace page. Interestingly, it does not explicitly say that he is playing Sasquatch!, but Tobacco seems to be saying he will be there in his own way.

Grizzly Bear: Quartermass, the co-administrator, along with myself, knows someone trying to book Grizzly Bear, but there was conflict because they are playing Sasquatch! He also says he has on good authority that Monotonix will be playing Sasquatch! Thanks Quartermass!

Passion Pit: A Consequence of Sound reader and commenter sited that Passion Pit revealed that they would be playing Sasquatch! '09 as well as Lollapalooza and Coachela in an interview for Under the Radar Magazine. The issues cover is on the Under the Radar magazine website, but not the content, sure enough Passion Pit is featured as an artist to keep a lookout for in 2009.

John Vanderslice: A message board reader and commenter wrote that he heard John say on KEXP that he will be playing Sasquatch! this year.

Keep the rumors coming, if they seem solid I will post them!

Another Confirmation.....

.....Peter, Bjorn and John. Thanks to a find by Ear Candy, Columbia Records reveal that they will be playing Sasquatch! on Sunday May 24th.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

A Collective Rumor.....

....Animal Collective that is! After reading a discussion on the Sasquatch! Message Board I followed a members link and presto there is a couple of dates for Animal Collective near Sasquatch!

Sunday, January 11, 2009

The Avett Brothers, Confirmed...

...according to this fansite: http://theavettbrothers.groupee.com/

Their official website nor their myspace confirm them as playing Sasquatch!, but it is feasible as they will be in Arizona with the Dave Matthews Band on May 6th. However, I doubt Dave Matthews will be at Sasquatch! as they always play three nights at the Gorge at the end of the summer.

If you can confirm or deny that the Avett Brothers are playing Sasquatch! let me know!

Rumors!!!

You asked for it and here it is. A place where rumors can start! We know that Kings of Leon are heavily rumored and that Sun Kil Moon is confirmed, but what are some other rumors out there? Here are several that I would agree with:

Coldplay - Have not played Washington since Viva La Vida came out.

Franz Ferdinand - New album and to me seem like a great fit for Sasquatch! maybe right before a headliner?

Band of Horses - New album this year and have their roots here in the Northwest.

Youth Group - I love this band from Australia. They put out a new album there in June and I believe it comes out in the U.S. in February. They are playing South by Southwest and would be a great Wookie stage band.

Weezer/Oasis Tour - Last year there was the R.E.M./Modest Mouse/National tour that came through Sasquatch! could Weezer and Oasis be this years version?

So what other rumors are out there? I know there are several on the Sasquatch! Message Board so check those out and add to them as well.

First Confirmed Band for Sasquatch! 2009

A commenter on the Ear Candy Blog discovered that Sun Kil Moon is confirmed for Sasquatch! 2009. Travis Hay (A.K.A. Ear Candy himself) checked it out on their website and sure enough they are playing Sasquatch! 2009.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

Another rumor, probably nothing...

I noticed that Tenacious D's Papagenu (He's My Sassafras) is on the Official Sasquatch! Music Festival website media player (although I cannot get it to play). Is it possible that Jack Black and Kyle Gass are playing Sasquatch!? Or does the website moderator just love the D? What do you think?

First Sasquatch! Music Festival 2009 Post!!!

Happy New Year Everyone! I finally got my first solid rumor for Sasquatch! '09 and that is that the Kings of Leon will be playing. I read it on the Facebook page for Sasquatch!, which Uli stated that the End (radio station KNDD 107.7) announced that Kings of Leon would be playing. I wrote Harms (radio DJ Andrew Harms from The End) and this is what he had to say:

"nothing is confirmed until the "official" announcement, which is still months away however, i have heard from a couple solid places that KOL is likely hope this helps!"

-andrew harms

There you have it folks! The first rumor for Sasquatch! 2009. Hopefully there will be more in the near future. Until then take care and keep your ear to the ground for more info!
