......it's time to make some guesses as to who will be at Sasquatch! I have made a list of 50 bands that either I know, or think/want to be there. What will your list of 50 look like? How many will you guess correctly? Give it a shot! Also, as info changes between now and the announcement feel free to change/add to your list, but try to stay around 50 bands, as that will likely be the number of bands at Sasquatch! Good luck!
Here's my list:
The Cure, R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, Pearl Jam, P.J. Harvey, Band of Horses, Silversun Pickups, Nada Surf, Rogue Wave, British Sea Power, Iron and Wine, M.I.A., Gang of Four, Ozomatli, Rilo Kiley, The Breeders, Galactic, The New Pornographers, Talib Kweli, Tegan and Sara, Built to Spill, Meat Puppets, Okkervil River, Beirut, Stars, Les Savy Fav, Devotchka, The Long Blondes, The Posies, The Nice Boys, Joseph Arthur, The Whigs, Drive-by Truckers, MGMT, Caribou, The Kills, The Heavenly States, 65 Days of Static, The National, Cold War Kids, Destroyer, Devon Williams, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Chris Walla, Helio Sequence, Fleet Foxes, The Thermals, Siberian, Speaker Speaker, Cave Singers, Joshua Morrison, Barcelona, Kay Kay and the Weathered Underground, David Bazan, Gutter Twins, Menomena, Dyme Def, Ohmegga Watts, The Cops.
i like and could totally believe your suggestions. i have several suggestions--bands that don't seem to have touring conflicts & seem like they'd fit in at sasquatch! but i don't to post without being sure it makes sense. are there any good sites you guys know that list tour dates for multiple bands?
ReplyDeleteI was hoping, as I have been for years, for a Nick Cave appearance but he's on tour in Europe.
ReplyDeleteGood shout on your picks. Can see a lot of those happening. Explosions in the Sky would be fantastic at sunset.

ReplyDeleteHere is my blind stab at the dark: I'll buy a beer (or one of those yardstick margarita's) at sasquatch for whomever gets the highest number right.
ReplyDeleteI am going out on a limb and saying that the Kanye tour will be added to the Sasquatch lineup, along with:
Kanye West/NERD/Rhianna/Lupe Fiasco/The Cure/REM/Death Cab/Modest Mouse/Gang of Four/Destroyer
The National/Devon Williams(!)/Fleet Foxes/Tegan and Sarah/MIA/Vampire Weekend/Sharon Jones and Dap Kings/Does it Offend You, Yeah?/Black Lips/Common Market
Black Kids/Rogue Wave/Wolf Parade/Frog Eyes/Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks/Mark Ronson/Tokyo Police Club/The Kills/Iron and Wine/Pissed Jeans
Menomena/Sir Richard Bishop/Old Time Relijun/Black Mountain/The Shaky Hands/Horse Feathers/AkronFamily/Holy Fuck/Shocking Pinks (wishlist)/Times New Viking(Wishlist)
Evangelicals/Headlights/The Constantines/Tragically Hip/My Brightest Diamond/Dan Deacon/Islands/Visqueen (don't they play every year?)/Rocky Votolato/Matisyahu
without doing research on touring conflicts, i'll throw out some appropriate bands that are playing other festivals and stuff...these haven't been mentioned yet:
ReplyDeletethe annuals, the breeders, minus the bear, new young pony club, rilo kiley, black lips, architecture in helsinki?
maybe im in the ballpark; i dunno. how about MIA, who couldn't make it last year? again, i'm the guy who would love a site that lists band show dates
The site you want is Pollstar - you can look by band or by city, or by tour (etc, etc, etc). Very useful - I used it when making my shitty list, and none of my picks had any conflicts.
ReplyDeleteI am already sold (Destroyer? Count me in), but I like this game.
I second Pollstar.com I go there every day and look at possible bands based on their tour dates.
ReplyDeleteWe have a great start on our lists. Keep it rolling!
Http://www.msbands.com discovered many of these. Please cite your sources
ReplyDeleteCite our sources? Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteFrom your site, it looks like you guessed as much as anyone - care to cite yours?
You also have "Rush" listed... They are playing a week later, not at Sasquatch.
It's got to be a lock that the breeders will be there. They have a Portland show scheduled in late May.
ReplyDeleteOk, I added sources/links that I check regularly for Sasquatch! info.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on the Breeders!
I don't why everyone is discounting a headlining slot by Radiohead. They are touring the States in May and July. Given that there are strong rumours they will headline Coachella's new East Coast cousin in July/August it is very conceivale that they will play their West Coast US part of the tour in May. Consider the fact that they have stated that they want to reduce their carbon imprint on this tour and the fact tat Sasquatch is a carbon neutral event. And last but not least, after a career that has been in free-fall in the States since the mid nineties REM are simply not a big enough draw as as a headliner. I won't be surprised if Radiohead headline Saturday night with REM playing right below them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right, that would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteMuch as I'd love to see them as Sasq, Jonny Greenwood said they'd be hitting the west coast in August.
ReplyDeleteI love G's comment of Explosions in the Sky playing at sunset. What about an all instrumental stage on of of the days? Start with Godspeed you black emperor, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and pelican and ending with Explosions in the Sky at dusk. I'd love it. Fingers are crossed for Radiohead headlining a day but i'd love to see REM as well. Vampire Weekend is a must and I'd love wolf parade and cold war kids to come too
ReplyDeleteNot really Sasq related but NYT saying Radiohead to headline All Points West.

i just noticed the horrors are playing at coachella, but i can't find anything else they're doing...i wish i could just fast forward to the lineup, because i spend too much time hoping lately
ReplyDeleteI heard on a radio station in Victoria BC that supposedly Radiohead's in Vancouver July 28th... If that's true, there's no way in hell Radiohead is at Sasquatch.
ReplyDeleteBesides people who claim to be in the know at the Coachella messageboards have stated that Radiohead won't be at Sasquatch and I tend to believe them.
The Breeders are now confirmed.

Good find on the Breeders, I will upgrade them to confirmed right away!
ReplyDeletepollstar confirms David Bazan:

dude, rihanna at sasquatch? rule.
ReplyDeleteThe list must be coming out soon because the site is down!!! I just hope it isn't full of geriatric bands and is better than the other fests!!!!
ReplyDeletei've been digging for anything sasquatch!, and i just found this piece of info from a gorge camp-site's page.

could it really be three days again this year?
I took it to mean that the event is two nights, but you can camp there Friday night, so you can get to the amphitheater nice and early.
ReplyDeletefor a second i thought the kills were right in the neighborhood at the right time, but they'll just miss it, i guess.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it might be a little far fetched to think they will come back between the 21st and the 25th, but possible still....
