Sasquatch 2014 July Weekend Cancelled

Welp. This is a huge bummer, but after days of rumors spreading around, Sasquatch 2014's July weekend has officially been cancelled due to low ticket sales. This is a huge letdown for me since I thought that July's lineup was the better of the two. I guess that there just weren't enough bands to bring in the college bros.

Official statement from Jeff Trisler, President of Live Nation:

"The Sasquatch! community has spoken. They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Musical Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekends the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only."

Ticket sales must have been REALLY bad to cancel the event entirely, which is surprising to me because that July lineup was seriously killer. I'm really bummed that Kraftwerk 3D won't be happening at the Gorge now.

It looks like some of the bands that were set to play at the Gorge on 4th of July weekend will now be relocating to Seattle. I'll be updating the list with each new date announced.

Robyn & Royksopp: 6/26 at Marymoor Park
Kraftwerk: 7/1 at the Paramount Theater
Fuck Buttons: 7/1 at The Crocodile
New Order: 7/6 at the Paramount Theater

  1. Worst Sasquatch news EVER! That's probably redundant but still…Totally amazed that the July Fest - with it's far superior line-up - gets cancelled?!?! I just don't understand...

  2. For me, Sasquatch over Memorial Day Weekend always signals the beginning of summer. Having an extra weekend, while nice, was too expensive for me. I'd rather spend that money elsewhere and for cheaper. However, I do agree with you that the second weekend looked better than the first one. I buy my tickets before the release of any band names. Also, I feel a little ripped off by one less day over Memorial and increased cost.

  3. Bring back the 4th Day in May! You owe us Sasquatch! We stuck by you, we gave you our hard earned money, and trusted you. And you blew it. Time to give the fans what they deserve for the the right price.

  4. Expanding Sasquatch to two weekends was a terrible idea to begin with, especially considering the weather at the Gorge in July and the better than average July 4th that Seattle puts on. What we're left with is one weekend with the sparsest lineup of the past few years because they decided to take one stellar lineup, and split it over two weekends, only to have one weekend cancelled and half a festival left.

All so they could try to goad you into going to two festivals and spending even more of your money on Livenation fees and $16 Kokanees.

I still love Sasquatch and am stoked about a lot of the acts that remain (Hozier, Chet Faker, Outkast, etc). Sad though someone probably lost their job over such a poorly thought out decision.

  5. I have been to Sasquatch the past 6 years and after hearing this news I have decided to boycott Sasquatch. Do these guys really expect the first year of a new festival to sell out right away. There is still 3 months till the event. I would have bought tickets as would many others but looks like we cant now. Sasquatch still is at the best festival location but has lost its reputation for me.

  7. The 2nd weekend was a bad idea in the first place. Splitting up the bookings resulted in worse lineups for both festivals.

Whatever happened to Sasquatch being a smaller (comparatively) festival that got stellar lineups for a reasonable ticket price? It costs as much as Coachella and Bonnaroo now, but with a much weaker lineup.

  8. I wish people would stop acting like Sasquatch! is a person that owes you something. This years remaining May lineup is better than any three day you can pull from last year, it's just a day shorter which apparently half of last years attendees don't mind since you all took off before Monday's music. I think they tried to do something amazing, realizing people weren't even staying for all 4 days anyway, no one bought tickets so LiveNation forced them to pull the plug on it. Not much sense in bitching now, let's go have an amazing time in May, and stop reacting like someone burned our village to the ground. #firstworldproblems

  12. It's sad that it was cancelled. But at least it was announced earlier so that people will plan other activities for themselves on that day.
